PRE-DANCE
I
-
Introduce
basic
movement

locomotor

PRE-DANCE
II
- Combines
the basics of pre-ballet, tap and tumble. Emphasis creative
movement, rhythm,
coordination,
and
balance.
Ages
4-6.
BALLET- A
very
beautiful
and
challenging
art
and
is
the
foundation
for
most
forms
of
dance.
It
is
characterized
by
poise,
strength,
grace
and
discipline.
Though
In
Motion
offers
a
very
strong
technically
strong
ballet
program,
we
aim
to
keep
our
lessons
fun
and
exciting
by
introducing
technique
and
movements
in
unique
and
alternative
ways.
We
will
use
both
traditional
and
non-traditional
music
to
train
on
the
correct
ballet
terminology
and
the
discipline
of
ballet.
All
Levels,
Ages
6+.
POINTE- Pointe
work
is
the
ultimate
goal
for
some
ballet
students.
Concentration
is
on
the
transference
of
ballet
steps
from
demi-pointe
to
pointe
and
are
for
those
female
dancers
who
have
achieved
the
necessary
discipline,
placement,
alignment,
strength,
and
development
in
order
to
succeed
without
the
risk
of
injury.
Min.
Age
12,
and
3
years
ballet.
JAZZ
-
A
fast
moving,
action
packed
style
of
dance
using
loose,
dynamic,
high
energy
movement.
Jazz
is
quite
possibly
the
most
familiar,
versatile,
and
consistently
evolving
of
the
American
dance
forms. A
variety of styles will be taught from primitive to the classic Jazz styles
through contemporary and theatrical steps of today. Class includes
isolations and footwork.
All
Levels,
Ages
6+
LYRICAL
-
Utilizes
both
jazz
and
ballet
technique
and
is
a
beautiful,
expressive
form
of
dance
usually
choreographed
to
a
slower
tempo.
Movements
can
be
slow,
smooth
and
controlled,
or
quick,
sharp
and
percussive.
Emphasis
will
always
be
on
emotional,
expressive
execution
of
the
choreography.
This
class
gives
students
the
ability
to
express
themselves
openly
and
without
reservation.
Levels
2&3,
Ages
10+
TAP
-
Develop coordination of mind and body and a more
perceptive sense of rhythm, timing, and phrasing through standard time
steps of the tap repertoire.
Numerous
styles
will
be
introduced
and
explored
to
challenge
the
dancer
to
perfect
technique,
speed,
precision,
clarity
and
style.
All
Levels,
Ages
6+
HIP-HOP
-
An
urban
based
dance
form
in
which
“old
school”
and
“new
school”
will
be
taught,
including
funk
styles
and
freestyle.
Hip-Hop
is
characterized
by
it's
vigorous
athletics,
high
energy
and
bouncy
style
dance
form.
Levels
2&3,
Ages
10+
TEAM
DANCE
-
Team
dance
incorporates
the
fundamentals
of
jazz
with
poms,
kick
lines,
leaps,
spirit,
and
team
formations.
Focus
is
on
sharp
and
precise
movements.
A
great
class
for
middle
and
high
school
dance/drill
team
hopefuls!
Levels
2&3,
Ages
10+
LEAPS,
TURNS
&
TRICKS
-
This
class
will
increase
a
students
dance
vocabulary
by
introducing
a
variety
of
leaps,
turns,
and
tricks,
and
the
methods
and
mechanics
to
perform
each
of
them
stronger.
This
class
will
work
on
alignment,
balance,
strength
and
flexibility
to
improve
extensions,
turning
technique,
and
to
jump
more
efficiently.
Students
must
have
one
year
of
ballet
or
jazz
experience
to
participate.
This
class
does
not
perform
in
the
recital,
as
it
is
meant
to
be
a
supplemental
class.
TUMBLE
-
Students
will
learn
all
forms
of
tumble
and
acrobatics,
gain
strength,
and
work
on
flexibility.
Skills
will
be
developed
incrementally
as
each
student
progresses
at
his
or
her
own
speed
using
a
syllabus
that
emphasis
safety
in
execution
without
pushing
a
child
beyond
his
or
her
body's
physiological
development
and
physiological
readiness.
COMPETITIVE
DANCE
-
Dance
Company
members will represent In Motion at three competitions per season. These dancers are required to attend weekly classes, and most participate in additional non-competitive classes to enhance dance training. Classes are focused on routines and performance skills and move at a fast pace. Members
are selected by the
Director.
PRIVATE
LESSONS
-
Available
for
students
to
learn
solo,
duet
and
trio
routines,
or
to
simply
refine
dance
technique.
All
Levels
and
ages.
